The Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) in collaboration with New Times Development Sdn Bhd (NTDSB) will develop an affordable housing (RMM) project with a development value of RM34 million.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the project will be developed on 6.47-hectare land owned by MBI at Ladang Kirby, Labu, Seremban, involving a total of 212 units of RRM type A and C and is expected to be completed by December 2022.
“It will be sold at RM80,000 for 100 units of RMM type A, while the remaining 112 units of RMM type C will be sold at RM380,000. This project aims to help the people, especially the low-income group to own their own house at an affordable price,” he said here, today.
He said this after witnessing the signing of the RMM project agreement document between the Negeri Sembilan MBI represented by managing director Datuk Mohd Khidir Majid and New Times Development represented by managing director Datuk Lau Chin An.
Aminuddin, who is also Negeri Sembilan MBI chairman, said RMM types A and C are single and two-storey terrace houses with an area of 20 x 60 sq ft and 20 x 70 sq ft, respectively.
“Type A will be equipped with three rooms and two bathrooms, while type C will have four rooms and three bathrooms,” he said.
He said the RMM development project site was originally owned by Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, but it was handed over to the Negeri Sembilan government in 2016 as a trade off for not implementing 30 per cent Low-Price Houses (RHR) in Ainsdale Town, Planters Heaven and Chemara Hill, all in Seremban.
“As a result, Sime Darby has ordered 44 estate workers to vacate the plantation workers’ quarters. The state government has given the ownership of the land to Negeri Sembilan MBI in 2018 for RMM development,” he said.
Aminuddin said the State Executive Council had also agreed to sell Type A units at a price of RM45,000 to 44 workers of the estate through direct sales or hire purchase.
“This means, the government will pay a subsidy of RM35,000 for each unit or equivalent to RM1.54 million for the entire 44 units,” he said.
“Located beside the Seremban-Labu main road at a distance of 12 kilometres from Seremban, the RMM location is seen as strategic as it is close to various public infrastructure facilities such as schools, mosques, temples, and a commuter station.
Besides RMM at Ladang Kirby, Aminuddin said the state government was also ready to develop similar projects in other areas in the future.
“We will build the second phase in the same area later. If there is a suitable access road, we will build it as soon as possible,” he said.
